For many the ability to look into the future and make plans, to be certain of their purpose, and secure in what they believe their journey will be is not unusual in the world we live in today.
For us, our journey to a house in order and the vision of a ministry given to us was tragically and violently interrupted by choices made by those who claim to be followers of Jesus Christ. There is only a slight problem. These people failed Christianity 101. To date there has been no repentance for the destruction they caused based on fear and lies.
Time is running out. Many who believe they are fine and on the narrow path that leads to life, unfortunately are not fine, but are deceived and will tragically hear these words instead, "Depart from me. I never knew you."
The Bible tells us that the world will know we are Christians by the love we have for one another. Unfortunately there are very few people who profess to know Jesus, and profess to have a relationship with God who actually do. This is evident in a number of ways.
We will get into some of them in the next episode. In the meantime I hear Jesus saying, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." I am not quite there yet. I want to be, but running into one of those hypocrites at the post office this week showed me, in my heart, I am not there yet.
Hypocrisy and pretense are not something Jesus was fond of and I can promise you, when I was face to face with it this week, what it provoked in me was much more than what I would describe as a lack of fondness. Thank you, Father, for sending the Holy Spirit to shut my mouth at that moment, because there was so much more that wanted to come out than what came out.
My motto is "I can do all things through Christ Jesus, who gives me strength", including keeping my mouth shut when it wants to do the opposite.
Thank God I have said that a million times in my head, because this week keeping my mouth shut had everything to do with the Holy Spirit within and not the million things running through my mind that would have loved to escape past my lips. Hallelujah for victory in Jesus! ~BC
When the Church Forgets Christ
There was a moment when we needed the Church most—not the building, but the body. A family. A reflection of Christ. Instead, we were met not with love or grace, but with fear, silence, and betrayal.
Instead of standing in the fire with us, they lit the match. They handed us over to the wolves, and when our home and family were consumed by the flames, they turned their backs and walked away.
Our children are growing up without their father. We lost everything—not just our home, but our peace, our community, and nearly our hope. And the Church stood by while the systems of this world tore our family apart, claiming it was “for the best” without ever asking what was true.
And what’s worse—when the Church puts its faith in the wicked systems of this world rather than in Christ Himself, they make those systems their god.
“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil… who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice to the innocent.” (Isaiah 5:20, 23)
They abandon even the basics of Christianity because accountability is too inconvenient, and sacrificial love too costly.
But the Bible is not vague on this. God is very clear about what He does with those who falsely accuse a brother.
“You shall not spread a false report. You shall not join hands with a wicked man to be a malicious witness.” (Exodus 23:1)
“A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will perish.” (Proverbs 19:9)
He calls it evil. He detests it. And He promises justice.
“There are six things the Lord hates… a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.” (Proverbs 6:16-19)
We have not lost faith in God—but we grieve what has been done in His name.
This is what happens when the Church forgets Christianity 101.
Love without action is empty.
“If I have not love, I am nothing.” (1 Corinthians 13:2)
Righteousness without compassion is hypocrisy.
“Woe to you… hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness.” (Matthew 23:23)
And a church that turns its back on the broken has stopped being the Church at all.
“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:35)
